ABOUT WAPFIN@STERN

Annual Conference 


A key part of the conference is to allow everyone to connect and get to know each other, so we expect all presenters to attend the entire conference.Since 2015, we have held our annual WAPFIN@Stern conference to promote gender balance in the academic finance profession. The conference aims to create a venue for junior women in finance to discuss research ideas and showcase their work.

WAPFIN@STERN  2024 

The conference took place on September 27 and 28, 2024 at NYU Stern and was sponsored by AFFECT, the Salomon Center at NYU Stern, and the NYU Stern Finance Department.  Wenxin Du (Harvard Business School), Anna Kovner (Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond), and Laura Veldkamp (Columbia Business School) participated in the senior panel, moderated by Theresa Kuchler.

The conference took place on September 30 and October 1, 2022 at NYU Stern and was sponsored by AFFECT, Tania Ahuja (2001 Stern Finance PhD), the Stern Salomon Center, and the Stern Finance Department. Yael Hochberg (Rice), Theresa Kuchler (Stern), Heather Tookes (Yale), and Annette Vissing-Jorgensen (Federal Reserve Board) participated in the senior panel, moderated by Jenny Carpenter.

The conference took place on September 30 and October 1, 2022 at NYU Stern and was sponsored by AFFECT, Tania Ahuja (2001 Stern Finance PhD), the Stern Salomon Center, and the Stern Finance Department. Jennie Bai (Georgetown), Brad Barber (UC Davis), Isil Erel (OSU), and Maureen O'Hara (Cornell) participated in the senior panel, moderated by Jenny Carpenter.

The conference took place on September 25-26, 2020  virtually. ​

WAPFIN@STERN 2019 

The conference took place on September 27-28, 2019 at NYU Stern and was sponsored by AFFECT, Tania Ahuja (2001 Stern Finance PhD), and the Stern Finance Department. The conference gathered 33 women assistant professors and 7 senior women in finance. ​

WAPFIN@STERN 2018

The 2018 meeting, held at NYU Stern on September 28 and 29, was sponsored by Tania Ahuja (2001 Stern Finance PhD), and the Stern Finance Department. The conference gathered 33 women assistant professors and 5 senior women in finance. ​

WAPFIN@STERN 2017

The 2017 meeting, held at NYU Stern on Oct. 13 and 14, was sponsored by Tania Ahuja (2001 Stern Finance PhD), and the Stern Finance Department. The conference got together 33 women assistant professors and 7 senior women in finance. ​

WAPFIN@STERN 2016

The 2016 meeting was held at NYU Stern on Oct. 15 and 16 and sponsored by the Stern Finance Department. 29 women assistant professors attended the conference. ​

WAPFIN@STERN 2015

The first WAPFIN@STERN was held on November 14-15, 2015. Seven women assistant professors in finance participated in this meeting. ​
